Proportional scaling is the process of resizing a design—up or down—without distorting its original dimensions or layout. It keeps the aspect ratio (the ratio between width and height) consistent so that elements stay balanced, legible, and visually pleasing across various sizes.
We will enlarge your artwork proportionally to fit the largest dimension of the selected size.
Basic Artwork Requirements for Poster Printing
Dimensions & Sizing
- Correct Size: Match the poster dimensions exactly (e.g. A3, A2, A1).
- Bleed Area: Add 3mm bleed on all sides for full-bleed printing.
- Safe Zone: Keep key elements (logos, text) 10-20mm in from edges to avoid cropping.
File Setup
- Resolution: Minimum 300 DPI for sharp print quality.
- Format: PDF (preferred), PNG, TIFF. Use flattened layers if sending PNG/TIFF.
- Color Mode: CMYK
Design Clarity
- Text: Ensure legibility—use fonts that scale well and convert type to outlines if needed.
- Graphics: Vector elements are ideal. Avoid low-res raster images.
